Self-Tanning Faves

As much as I love being in the sun, I'm hyper aware of the lasting damage that it can do to my skin. After numerous attempts to create a faux glow, only to end up orange and streaky, I found a collection of products that are foolproof. I like to think of them as my self-tanning VIP's.

I like a natural golden tone for my face, and bareMinerals Faux Tan Face does the trick. For my body, I like a deeper color and rely on St. Tropez for tawny limbs. For a touch of "sun" year round, I scoop up Jergens Natural Glow at the drugstore for a cheap fix. In the event of a misapplication, I always keep a tube of Model Co's Tan Remover around.

Which self-tanners do you like to use?

Trying to Make a Statement (Necklace?) Part III

I absolutely adore the look of a big, chunky necklace and am constantly thinking of ways to make one piece look versatile and new. Don't let the $128 price tag fool you. This necklace offers the best bang for your buck in the sense that the necklace itself can be worn five different ways with just a quick chain change (say that three times fast)!

I love wearing all the components together, with my favorite being on top of a sleek black jumpsuit. Streamlined accessories add to the look without appearing overdone.

Another look I recently tried was the necklace paired with this adorable leaf print romper and flat gladiator sandals. It took me less than 10 minutes to get ready yet the ensemble was flawless.

Finally, the edgy option: a mesh crop top with  looser track-style pants. A chunky heeled sandal finished the look off.

Voila! A chunky statement necklace, three ways.

Trying to Make a Statement (Necklace)? Part II

Yesterday, I created looks for a big, chunky statement necklace. Today, I wanted to tackle the long statement necklace. Length can be an issue for some and can deter a girl from wearing a fantastic piece. This necklace seems subtle, but when put in front of the right colors, really pops.

A silky red blouse and patterned shorts seem less preppy with the necklace and more polished. When worn with a black maxi, the necklace takes center stage and is complemented with some smaller pops of color. If you want to go all out, put your necklace on top of a bold blazer and printed skirt. Three very different, but very stylish ways.

Trying to Make a Statement (Necklace)?

After a long hiatus that consisted of the end of the school year and a fabulous vacation and birthday, I'm back to business. I love a good statement necklace, however, a lot of my friends ask me how they can wear them.

I'm going to start my Statement Series with a more subdued statement necklace, the Coral Cay from Stella & Dot. The fun coral fan design lends itself well to boyfriend jeans, a pair of Chucks, a striped tee, and some wayfarers. It looks elegant with an LBD and a killer coral pump. Finally, I love how fresh it feels against a bold patterned romper and flat sandals.
