Desk To Drinks: The Chambray Shirt

I decided to start a new Friday post series that shows you how to effortlessly leave the office and immediately start your night out. I hope you like it!

If you're running from work to play without time to drastically change your outfit, a chambray shirt is the perfect solution.
Pair it with a simple black pencil skirt and pops of color for the office and change it up after hours with mint skinnies, neutral accessories, and a chunky necklace.

Recipe Box: (Yummy, I Swear) Green Juice

Green juice gets a bad rap. Many people are turned off just by the color and others equate it to drinking a salad through a straw. The good news is if you have the right recipe, you'll eventually like, if not love, a nice, tall glass. My go-to recipe comes from my good friend Lauren Kelly. Just trust me on this one.

Lauren Kelly's Detox Green Smoothie

1 cup of 0% plain Greek yogurt
1 organic apple, cored
1/2 cup chopped pineapple
1/2 cup chopped mango
1/4 lemon, take out the seeds, keep the peel
1 inch of fresh ginger
5 cups kale leaves
1 tbs. chia seeds

Add all ingredients in order to a blender. Blend until everything is mixed together. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

Work It Out: Tone It Up Bikini Series Starts Today!

It's nearly May which means tank tops, sundresses, and bikinis are in the near future. Before the panic sets in let me offer a solution.

I've been a longtime fan of the Tone It Up girls, Karena and Katrina, and think their effervescent personalities, delicious recipes, and efficient yet effective workouts are second to none. Each year they launch an eight week Bikini Series to tone, tighten, and transform. It's like having a personal trainer, nutritionist, and cheerleader all rolled into one. Whether you're an avid exerciser or looking to start a healthy way of living, this challenge has got it all covered. Try it...you're going to love it!

Spring 2013 Capsule Collection

I love ushering in the seasons with new pieces yet I inevitably pick favorites and forget about the rest. I've made a resolution to create a capsule collection, or a carefully curated group, of new pieces for my wardrobe. The trick is to limit yourself to just 11 or 12 main pieces that will mix and match with each other so that you will always pull a polished outfit out of your closet. Here is my current dream capsule for spring 2013.

I Want: MIANSAI Screw Cuff Bracelet

I love to accessorize and I'm always looking for new pieces to add to my collection. I'm currently lusting over these MIANSAI by Michael Saige screw cuffs because of their sleek and chic look. I'm dying for one in rose gold but would love to stack them as well.

Recipe Box: Perfect Iced Coffee

The weather is finally warming up which means it is officially time to transition from hot coffee to iced. It's easy (and more cost-effective) to make a batch at home but how does one go about doing this? I love this recipe for The Pioneer Woman's "Perfect Iced Coffee." Just a few simple steps and you'll be enjoying this cold treat all summer long.

Weekly Roundup: Links I Love

It's Friday and the weather is finally starting to warm up. I have fun plans for the weekend, including my Mad Men inspired premiere party on Sunday (photos to come!) Until then, here are my favorite things online this week.

I am obsessed with this newsletter which reads all of the important stories and condenses them for the girl-on-the-go. The content is rich, not watered down, and makes it easy to stay abreast of all the important headlines. Trust me, you're going to love this.

Right now all I want is all things sunny. This half circle bag is bright, bold, and the perfect warm weather purse. It would look awesome with a pair of boyfriend jeans and a striped top while running errands, but could also be dressed up and tossed over an LBD and some flats for dinner with friends.

InStyle always has the best advice and is currently offering up self-tanning tips for a natural looking glow.

My favorite show, Mad Men, is returning on Sunday night. Cara Kelly from The Washington Post blogged about her predictions for this season's fashions.

I'm looking forward to making this recipe from Kelsey Nixon as a snack this weekend. Homemade cinnamon pita chips and fresh fruit salsa are exactly what I'm craving.

How To: Wear Heeled Sandals

My favorite spring shoes are definitely the chunky heeled sandals that seem to be everywhere. There are so many variations that it can be tricky figuring out what to wear with your new pair. Since the heels will elongate your legs, they look best with skirts and dresses.

Neutral Heeled Sandals
These sandals can be worn with anything and everything. Since the color is so versatile, I prefer wearing mine with color and prints to prevent a boring ensemble. I love this yellow tribal print dress from Topshop because it's effortless but looks refined and put together. The black and white printed skirt from DVF acts as a bold accent piece when paired with these sandals.

Dressy Heeled Sandals
If you're going to invest in a pair, make it a well-made leather sandal. I love these from J.Crew because they're extremely polished and can easily transition from day to night. Since they have a pop of color, I like to mix up the textures of my dresses and skirts. This black and white Alice + Olivia dress looks fun and playful when paired with the heels. This J.Crew lace skirt is ladylike but gets a modern twist when worn with the hot pink sandals.

Colorblocked Heeled Sandals
Perhaps the most fun sandals are the colorblocked ones that seem to be a constant in every fashion tome. This pair from Calvin Klein combines cobalt and turquoise, the perfect spring and summer hues. The sandals look equally as good when worn with this cap sleeve Topshop frock as it does with this colorful mini. Although at first it might seem as though the sandals and the skirt would be too much together, the colors of the shoes bring out the accent colors in the skirt, making it a perfect match.
